Chicana/o Studies 245 OL Students. While I will e-mail you throughout the semester, I will post notes here and most times reproduce e-mails here for your convenience and to make sure information is not lost. ChS 245 OL Students,
I have posted your question of the week on WebCT. The following is the question for your review. However, please remember the question is only to be responded to on WebCT only. Do not send me responses via e-mail. The following is the question:
” In chapter 6, the author discusses "Double Oppression." What does the author mean by this and what evidence does he use to support his arguments. Please be as specific as possible and cite well throughout your answer. Your response should be 5 paragraphs in length.
This assignment is due on Thursday, February 11th at noon. If you have questions on your previous assignments, you can also call me directly at (323) 267-9749. If I'm not available, leave me a message that includes your complete name and phone number. Please leave clear messages and repeat your area code and phone number.”
Also, throughout the semester, I will send you articles that are related to history throughout the Americas, but interesting. Please review this article on Haiti and how the country documented many of its businesses.

Good Afternoon ChS 245 OL Students,
The following questions has been posted on WebCT:
“The author uses the phrase "Tyrany is Tyrany" to discuss how the United States was created as an entity that would control land similar to the British. While the author discusses this in Chapter 4, there are components to chapter 3 that are similar. In your four to five paragraphs, discuss how the author is NOT correct. Be the contrarian and make sure to cite. Assignment is due on Thursday, February 4th by noon.
Remember to simply press reply to this e-mail in order for your assignment to be recorded. Have a great week! If you need to speak with me directly, feel free to call me at (323) 267-9749.”
Make sure and take your time in the response. I will give you feedback on the first two assignments late next week to make sure you understand how you are doing.
If you have questions, e-mail me at gbuelna@sbcglobal.net or call me at (323) 267-9749. E-mail is the best way to get a hold of me.

ChS 245 Online Students,
Most of you have sent me your biographies and pictures. The assignment for the week has been posted on WebCT and is due this Thursday, January 28th. While I believe it is clear, let me know if you have questions. Your response is to be directly entered into WebCT. You will never e-mail me your assignment for the week. Good luck with the first assignment.
Please take time to review the biographies of other students in your class. The purpose of the assignments is for students to get to know who the other students are in the class. I will be posting your assignments for your PowerPoint presentation early next week. Your assignment will be posted next to your name under the “student” section of my website http://www.gabrielbuelna.com .
Once again, for some of you, this is your first online class. If you have question, make sure and ask.

Good Morning ChS 245 Online Students,
The assignment for the week has been posted on WebCT. Please remember that your response is posted directly onto WebCT.
If I have not posted your biography and picture, it is probably because I did not receive it or it had the incorrect class number. Please correct any issues you might have and re-send.

ChS 245 OL Students,
Welcome to Chicana/o Studies 245 OL. Your first assignment is to e-mail me a short two paragraph biography about who you are. Include what your major is and something interesting about you. This class is e-mail based and your CSUN e-mail is the e-mail I will use.
Along with the two paragraph short biography, please e-mail me directly a picture in a .jpg format of you or a picture that represents you. The biography and picture will be posted on http://www.gabrielbuelna.com. The biography and picture will be placed in the “student” section on the left hand side. The class is registered on WebCT.
Thus, first send the two items in one e-mail and attend the chat session on Thursday evening in order to answer any questions. The biography and picture are due by Thursday, January 21st at noon.
Make sure you always place the class number within the subject line. Hence, if I were sending an e-mail, it would be “Gabriel Buelna ChS 245 OL Class Number 13843".
The syllabus will be updated by Tuesday, 19th. However, the assignments will
remain the same.
Please review the biography that one of your students sent as an example for
you. Just click on the "Student" tab on the left and click the name of the
student.
Please e-mail me any questions and welcome to the class. You should e-mail me at gbuelna@sbcglobal.net
