Anoush Malakian

My name is Anoush Malakian.  I am an Armenian-American.  I live in La Crescenta and commute to school.  My entire life, I’ve had a passion of working with children.  In elementary school I would look up to my teachers and hope to one day affect the lives of children the way they were affecting my life.  In high school I was able to voluntarily teach a Sunday school class at my church and I fell in love with the field of education.  I knew, coming out of high school with a high G.P.A. that I wanted to teach for the rest of my life.  I, then, applied for the Integrated Teacher Education Program at CSUN and got accepted.

The ITEP- Freshman Option program allows me to receive a B.A. in Liberal Studies and my Preliminary California Teaching Credential in a total of four years.  I was extremely excited and anxious to start a new chapter in my life and work towards my goals and dreams.  This is now my second year at CSUN and I am enjoying every minute of it.  I am currently taking 18 units and sometimes it feels as if I won’t get through the week, but I step back, examine the bigger picture (completing my degree and doing what I love), and I calm myself down.  I, also, currently work as a Teacher’s Assistant at an Armenian private school part-time.  I hope to do well in this class and gain the knowledge I need to pass it on to future generations.
